Latex fetishists, this is for you!

slaveboysmith: Welcome ladies and let me begin by asking you to respond to what I believe is an important distinction.  There is a lot of confusion among submissives, and perhaps even some Dommes, over what exactly constitutes latex fetish, including some leather or pleather items, PVC etc.  What are some of the key differences and why do you each prefer latex so consistently in your fetish attire choices?

Lady Bellatrix: Quite simply, latex is latex. It is not PVC or pleather. While they are all shiny materials, latex is made of rubber. And it is a lot more expensive! Sometimes PVC and pleather can look cheap.

Another major difference in material is how latex feels. The texture of latex on the body is amazing- there’s a reason why it’s also known as “second skin”. The aesthetics of latex cannot be achieved with PVC or pleather. Also, true fetishists would definitely notice a difference if their Domme is wearing latex or not. There is even a very subtle, but distinct scent that drives the boys wild!

Latex Barbie: Hi there! This is definitely an interesting question, one that I used to get a lot more particular on the technicalities – but these days, honestly? I’m a lot more relaxed and fluid about what people call “latex”.

What is latex? Real latex clothing and gear is made of rubber sheeting, glued at the seams. It is typically heavier and more restrictive than regular clothing, and very expensive and luxurious! It requires significant care and upkeep, as well as dressing aid to put it on comfortably. If you have a fetish for it, you may be drawn to the way it looks on others, or yourself, or even more so, drawn to the feeling, and the slippery smooth shininess that only a rubber second skin can bring.
What is leather? Real leather is made of a durable, tanned hide, stitched at the seams. It’s generally more comfortable than latex, but not always, and comes with a big shiny price tag. It doesn’t require dressing aid, but occasional garment upkeep.

What is PVC? PVC, vinyl, vegan leather, etc. are all made of a plastic-coated fabric, stitched at the seams. These garments are typically easier to access, and a lot cheaper compared to their pricier counterparts. It requires no upkeep and is very easy to maintain.

Another honorable mention, spandex/Lycra, is a stretchy, often shiny, skintight fabric, stitched at the seams and can often be found in sportswear, yoga pants, swimsuits, etc. Usually not too expensive, and kinda underrated!

Now, a lot of people assume that because I wear lots of latex, that I am a latex purist, that it is ALL I wear, etc. This could not be further from the truth! I own and wear lots of leather, lingerie, PVC, and spandex as well. I love fetish wear in all its forms, and I’m not a hardcore latex snob, LOL! But I can tell by eye, if something is truly real latex/rubber, or not. I used to get a lot wilder about when people would claim “this is latex” when it was clearly PVC, etc. but these days, I’m like, “whatever”. Latex, and related shiny fabrics have grown in popularity far beyond the scope of just fetish-wear worshippers, and the signals get a little crossed before people know any better. And that’s ok! Imagine my dismay when popular high fashion houses were coming out with “latex” clothing that was nothing more than “wet-look” spandex, or when they had an entire “latex” runway and about 4/6 people were actually wearing PVC – that’s when I realized, nobody is really keeping score. Who cares if it really is rubber, or not? I suspect many subs just see SHINY things and start drooling regardless.

As for me, I personally prefer real latex/rubber clothing. I am very much a latex fetishist myself, dressing for pleasure, specifically for the feeling that latex gives me. I can’t stop touching myself when I wear full body rubber, and it also makes me feel extra powerful. And the hold it has over submissives with a shiny fetish is undeniable. I get to enjoy my own fetish and use it to dominate others at the same time.

Mistress Lola Ruin: To me, latex fetish is a very specific and unique kink that revolves around the specific material itself. Latex has a distinct feel, smell, and sound that sets it apart from other materials like leather, pleather, or PVC. But for me, the real allure of latex lies in its ability to mould to my body, accentuating my curves and making me feel like a sensual Goddess. It’s a mix of power, sophistication, and raw, unbridled sexuality.

sbs: There is no denying the interconnectedness of BDSM play and latex fetish attire.  What is it that lures us so easily to a beautiful Domme clad in latex and are there specific latex items that you each like most for yourselves?

Lady Bellatrix: Latex in itself is a fetish. I have never heard a sub saying they have a PVC fetish. A preference, maybe but not an actual fetish. Latex has a transformative quality. When decked out in full rubber: latex catsuit, latex hood, latex gloves, latex corset and any other accessories, it is a very powerful and striking image. It appeals to many senses: sight, touch, smell, even the sound of latex being shined can have ASMR effects. So, it’s no wonder why subs are attracted to Dommes who wear it!

Latex Barbie: I’d say every individual is probably a little different for why they may be drawn to latex, but I could assume that men at large are visual creatures, and seeing feminine curves outlined in super shiny liquid-like material would be pretty hard to miss. It stands out from the crowd, especially if you incorporate bright colours.

Personally? For my latex outfits, more is MORE. Catsuits are my absolute favourite, but adding gloves, socks, and a latex hood is even better, sexier, and more fetishy! Full rubber dolly can’t be beat.

Mistress Lola Ruin: Everything. The power, the aesthetic, the psychology- latex turns a woman into a walking, breathing fantasy. It’s not just clothing; it’s a second skin that commands control. The way it gleams under dim dungeon lighting as it clings to every sinful curve- It’s the visual promise of authority, of being smothered in glossy, inescapable perfection.

As far as my favourite pieces, nothing compares to the instant power surge of sliding into one of my structured latex dresses—the way it cinches my waist and amplifies every curve effortlessly transforms me.

sbs: Are there other fetishes that mix well with creating latex fetish content? And in your content, do you tend to wear latex to enhance other fetishes, or mostly as the focus of your clip creation?

Lady Bellatrix: Latex is so versatile that it can be worn in many ways. My particular style is heavy rubber and the classic BDSM look. But for those who have a more playful style, the latex can have a softer, more feminine look in the form of dresses and latex lingerie. A lot of Cosplay creators wear custom latex pieces too.

Sometimes latex is the sole focus of my clip creation. For example, when I reward a sub by letting him shine my latex. Or if I’m doing a specific latex fetish POV, it will be all about shining it, telling them to sniff it, making them beg to worship it. But often, I will do a range of BDSM activities in combination with latex. Such as heavy rubber along with breath play, rubber bondage with CBT and whatever other things my evil mind conjures.

Latex Barbie: I usually wear latex for about ¾ of my clips, regardless of fetish/topic. It’s just what I like! I definitely make clips specifically for rubber lovers, focusing on the dressing process or generally just the enjoyment and pleasure. I also make lots of clips in latex that focus on other kinks, some of my most successful being Captivate and Mindfuck clips. A latex catsuit has alluring qualities that make it hard to stop watching!

Mistress Lola Ruin: Latex isn’t just fabric—it’s a fetish multiplier. It amplifies every twisted little desire your mind can conjure. I love to film clips focusing solely on latex, but I also particularly love pairing it with…

  • Gooning & Mindfuck – The way light dances on latex? Hypnotic.
  • Teasing & Worship – Buff that sleek material to a high gloss shine with your tongue.
  • Facesitting & Breath play – A latex-covered bottom lowering itself onto you, quite literally taking your breath away…

sbs: You’ve each created some of the hottest erotic clips in the industry in your deliciously beautiful latex fetish attire.  Is there one clip you would point out as your favourite that we all simply need to buy now to experience the wonders of latex on a strikingly beautiful Domme?

Lady Bellatrix: Thanks! I love what I do and I’m a self-professed rubberist so it’s great to see that it shines through (pun intended). I have filmed more than 250+ latex and rubber clips so it is extremely difficult to narrow it down to one.

But “Bellatrix in the Bunker” is one of My favourites. It combines heavy rubber, gas mask, neoprene gloves, military roleplay, dystopia and lots of solo masturbation.

Latex Barbie: Just one!? Hahah. Can’t pick just one so you’ll get 3 instead, some very recent clips I’ve made that highlight my passion for latex: “Latex and Louboutins”, “For the Lovers of Latex” and “Rubberized Goon”.

For the Lovers of Latex

Mistress Lola Ruin: One of my personal favourites—the one that really makes weak-willed boys crumble—is “Craving Ruin”. A slow, slick clip that is sadistically designed to break you. The way I sway in that sinful red dress is pure visual dopamine. It combines everything I adore: teasing till you shake, denying till you beg, and ruining you so exquisitely, you’ll thank me afterward (and FYI… the truly pathetic ones buy it twice 😉)

sbs: Have you noticed any industry trends or changes in the demand for latex content? I know a little of the challenges of maintaining latex garments and the cost associated with purchase.  Safe to say the payoff is worth the extra care and cost for each of you?

Lady Bellatrix: If anything, I think latex content is getting more popular. I’ve been a content creator since 2012, and I see more creators wearing latex more often. Also, celebrities are starting to wear more latex, which I think is pretty cool. As latex is becoming more mainstream in popular culture, it will trickle down even more into the kink subculture and I’m down for the ride.

Yes, latex is expensive, so caring for it is very important. If you think of each piece as a small investment, proper storage is vital. I have a lot of latex, but each piece has its own individual labelled Ziplock bag to ensure longevity. As for the cost, I wouldn’t know. I have a harem of adoring rubber subs who buy it for me. I haven’t paid for my own latex in years!

Latex Barbie: I think latex just continues to become more and more popular. I’m so pleased to see more content being made around it, not just by me, but by others too! Getting more creative as well, with colours, outfits, layering, even outlandish ideas like latex aliens, drones, etc.

In terms of challenges, for sure they exist. The process of caring for latex, washing it, storing it, repairing it if it gets damaged, are a labour of love for me. It can be a full-time job. It’s not for everyone! Latex and rubber are probably the “brattiest” fabric to maintain, haha! I’ve been collecting and wearing latex for 15 years, and would still be doing it, even if I weren’t on the internet doing it. It can get expensive, for sure. But it helps when you have a collection of good subs who fund my latex lifestyle, and love making it possible!

Mistress Lola Ruin: The industry is always evolving, and in recent years I’ve noticed a surge in demand for genuine latex content that’s more sophisticated, more refined, and more… fetishistic. Subs want to be transported to a world of unbridled desire by a latex-clad goddess, and I am more than happy to indulge them. TikTokers may play with pleather, but real subs crave the real deal – the kind that costs more than their rent. And why not? Latex requires dedication and commitment, which makes the entire experience even more intimate and special. The payoff is worth every penny.

sbs: Do you have any advice for new Dommes just starting to create latex fetish content? Are there specific brands that are the gold standard in the industry? And are there specific items that you would recommend as a staple in any Domme’s wardrobe who wishes to dive into latex fetish content creation?

Lady Bellatrix: Start with a few accessories. A top, a skirt, leggings or a simple dress to start. Then get a few more accessories like corset and gloves. Or if you want to be bold for your first piece, dive straight in with a catsuit!

Latex Barbie: I would definitely encourage anyone with interest in this area to try it! Be patient, take your time, enjoy the process. You don’t have to start with a full-body outfit (and I wouldn’t recommend that either). My first rubber piece was a thong. I liked that, so I moved on to a skirt. I liked that too, so I moved onto a dress, and then a hood, and then a catsuit. For me, the catsuit changed everything, but I had to get there slowly and figure out if I really liked it or not. I have introduced many other people to latex, and the response is always kind of interesting and different.

Some people love it right away. Some people hate how restricting it feels, even “suffocating” at times. Some people despise the process of putting it on, it can feel cold and wet at first but then feel great once it’s on. Then there is the matter of dressing aid, and each latex lover has their own preference. I personally love to be VERY juicy, covered in silicone lube, just full wet and lube-y. Gets my whole house slick. Can’t hold on to my phone, too lube-y. Hahaha.

This process can be off-putting to others who don’t want to get covered in lube just to wear an outfit. But for me, I love it.

I could go ON and on about my favourite brands – literally, I could write an entire article just on this topic. There are TONS. And it really depends what kind of latex you are looking for. Each brand often has a “specialty” that they do extra well.

If I had to recommend a staple piece in a Domme’s closet, it’s either got to be a dress in your favourite colour, or a black catsuit. Can’t go wrong with a classic!

Mistress Lola Ruin: Start small, with elbow length opera gloves for an affordable and iconic ‘pop’ of latex. Plump for both a high-cut long sleeve bodysuit, and a simple (but deadly) dress, which can both be easily accessorised (add harnesses, jewellery, or a cruel smile) for a complete look. Begin with dark, classic colours like Black and Red, which are most requested and reflect light best. You can experiment with colours after mastering the basics.

Don’t splurge on a catsuit right away, tempting as it may be. Instead, collect the above staples and then invest in latex leggings in the same colour as your bodysuit. Pair together, and voilà— a catsuit illusion for a fraction of the cost.
